Measuring runs and route ideas
Three Ways to Measure Runs
1. Smartwatch
This is the easiest and most accurate way of measuring the distance that you’re travelling. Have a look at TechRadar’s 2021 review of smartwatches here.
2. Phone app
If you have a smart phone you will be able to download an app that measures your distance. Both Apple and Google (for Android phones) have their own fitness apps which are the easiest option for distance measuring. Search your phone’s app store to find them. Apple’s is called ‘Health’, and Google’s is called ‘Google Fit’.

3. Map it out
Alternatively, you could map out your route before you leave.
There are a number of different websites that allow you to map out a local route and measure the distance for you.
An easy site to use with no registration requirements is Plot a Route.
Strava is another site popular in the fitness world, which allows you to map out routes and more.
